An adventuresome bike ride down the Hiawatha Trail in Montana and Idaho with Bev, brother Eugene and nephew Casey Roufs on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Story and photos.
For the longest time, I had wanted to visit the Marych's in Edmonton. They have always been a part of our family because of their being good friends of our parents during World War II and afterward. I also wanted to hear their story about our parents. So, in August 2003 Bev and I flew to Edmonton and spent a few evenings with them. We also went to a Ukrainian Day event celebrating Ukraine's Independence. it was 12 or so years after Ukraine became independent. Below are three one hour unedited videos.
My Dad was 16 years old when the Nazis invaded Ukraine. Hitler outlawed high school attendance and offered many youths the "opportunity" to go to Germany and work and earn some money and return in 3 months. 3 YEARS later my Dad is gaunt famished and working as a slave in Nazi labor camps.
I received this very interesting article in a Ukrainian publication from my nephew Colin. Don't have any more information at this point. Received it December 2, 2017.
Bev and I are very happy for our niece Heather Kubik and Coleman Gidcumb who were married on September 22, 2017 in High Country Orchard in Colbert (Spokane area), Washington. Seeing Heather marry into such a fine family was very joyful for us to experience. Both hold upright values and their marriage will be a success.
