Visit Prayer Page Home UPDATED November 9, 2008 Shirley Mavis died early Friday morning (2:55 a.m.) Nov. 7. She had been slowly declining for some time and went into hospice care in Defiance, Ohio, two weeks ago. She rallied last Sabbath for a day or so, then fell into a deep sleep for the next four days. She remained strong in the faith till the end, and will be sorely missed by her husband Bill, sons Twig and Terry and families, and all who knew her. The graveside service will be conducted by UCG Fort Wayne elder Gary Nielander in the Pioneer, Ohio, cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008. UPDATED March 14, 2008 Shirley would like to thank the brethren around the world for all the encouragement sent her way in the past few weeks. She really appreciates going to the mailbox and finding another note or card almost every day. She is holding her own health-wise at this point, but needs your continued prayers for sure. A sincere thank-you to everyone on this count. February 15, 2008 Please pray for Shirley Mavis of Alvordton, Ohio, who is suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, a lung condition that makes it very difficult for her to breathe. She's on oxygen now much of the time and finds it difficult to get around even with a portable oxygen unit. She appreciates the UCG Fort Wayne sermon tapes each week but misses seeing us all and asks our prayers for her healing. Shirley Mavis |
