Visit Prayer Page Home UPDATED July 6, 2008 My friend Gene Bremer died Saturday morning at 7:32 am. He is in no more pain, only awaiting the Resurrection and reuniting with family and friends.
UPDATED June 20, 2008 From Steve Moody, pastor, Jackson/Memphis, TN; Little Rock/Sedgwick, AR: Gene Bremer, our deacon in the Jackson, Tennessee, congregation, has been fighting bone cancer. He has fractured several vertebrae due to the weakening of his bones. He has lost considerable weight (50 pounds). He is also in considerable pain. Though his cancer numbers have been lowering, he had a setback this past week and had to return to the hospital in great pain. He is home now and under in-home nursing care. Please keep Gene and his wife Diane in your prayers.
175 Fox Run Drive UPDATED June 13, 2008 Dad's doctor called on Wed evening to tell them to come to the hospital ASAP. I, Corina, was pulling in from my trip from Ohio as they were pulling out. Dad's calcuim level was extremely high (14.6) which has in turn lowered his kidney function and caused some other issues. They were able to slowly lower his calcuim level at one point to 12.5 (10 is normal) and should hopefully been down even more. He was also low on blood so he got one unit yesterday. He, as always, was initially moderately uncomfortable (for him) however yesterday afternoon he took a huge turn for the worse. His confused state heightened as well as his pain. It took 4 hours to get his pain even close to manageable and finally he fell asleep. Theressa is coming soon and Garrett will be here tomorrow night. It was incredibly difficult to see him yesterday in so much pain. He wants to go home and we hope to get to a place to be able to bring him home. I will try to update soon. Thanks to everyone that has and is amazing to Dad and Dianne. The Chandler crew (Tina, Barry, Johnny, Bridget & kids, Shebly, Jeremy), Sheri Butler, Johnny & Charlie Bremer that have had to spontaneously babysit my kids and have been helping with Dad for over a month. Love to all. As always, we ask that you please keep Dianne and of course Dad in your prayers. He needs peace and rest. Dianne needs strength and comfort.
175 Fox Run Drive He appreciates receiving messages through Caringbridge June 10, 2008 Dad is not doing well. He is weak and struggling with confusion. He has been going to water therapy for just about a week now and finds great relief. While his pain has lessened, he has significantly weakened. We don't know specifically the reasons. His cancer numbers are still down. We don't know if these are his last days or the beginning of a turn around for him. It is truly a day by day event. Please pray for Dianne. She is carrying the load for caring for him. The burden is extremely heavy both physically, financially and emotionally. She is a strong woman but her shoulders are only so wide. Garrett, Corina and I are doing all that we can but it has to fall on his wife. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for you concerns. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I know there are many that are praying. We know it may turn around and we know that it may not. We don't know which path God is choosing. It is a time to be still and know that He is. Thanks, Theressa UPDATED May 3, 2008 Dad is really not doing well. He is in excruciating pain. He went to the doctors today. While they can not find a fracture, they are hypothesizing that it might be deep in his bones. They will be doing an MRI tomorrow. He is suffering severely. The pain is so severe that he is essentially immoveable. So many are walking this storm with us. Tom Anderson and his phone calls. The mountains of cards. The visits by the house. The phone calls from people dad hasn't spoken to in 30 years. Its Tina who is there everyday with dad. It is Barry and Robert who come at a moments notice and all the other people who are walking with us every day in the midst of this storm. It is this support that gives him courage and strength. Dad has commented lately that he doesn't know how people get through this unbelievable pain and hardship without support. While my father may not be the most expressive man, your support and encouragement has been - at times - the thing that keeps him going. Thank you for walking these dark times with us. I know that the messages that you post are for dad but they mean the world to us. We read them and we are encouraged. I know you are praying for all of us. I will say that there are times that I rest in knowing that. When I don't know what to feel, I know that out there, the body of Christ is lifting all of us up. I rest in that. I offer gratitude beyond words and humbly request intercessory prayer. Theressa
UPDATED April 17, 2008 From Steve Moody, pastor, Jackson/Memphis, TN; Sedgwick/Little Rock, AR: Last Friday Gene Bremer was feeling fine; he was going to speak on the Sabbath in Jackson. However, while he was in bed he sneezed three times and in the third sneeze two vertebrae fractured in his back. His bones are weak due to the bone cancer. He has been in severe pain since. He is now (Wednesday, April 16) in the Jackson General Hospital room 686. Surgery is scheduled to fuse those vertebrae. The bone cancer has been responding to treatment. Treatment to strengthen his bones is also ongoing but the severe pain has him in a great deal of stress. Please continue to pray for him and his wife, Dianne.
UPDATED April 12, 2008 Dad is back home for the weekend!! He is still doing really well. His latest test results were very positive. Two numbers remained the same while all the other number deceased. He is very confident about his treatment. While I (Corina) was there, we were looking up different scriptures and I ran across one that I read to him. I feel it sums up how we feel. Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Dad will be back at the clinic on Monday to be retested. I all looks good, he will be able to go home that night. I believe that is it! Thanks to all that have donated and thanks to Garrett for organizing the site. Love to all! Corina (daughter) UPDATED April 11, 2008 This past Monday I drove down to see Gene Bremer who was staying in Vienna, Illinois. He was in good spirits and we had a great visit and I prayed with and anointed him. He does not have pain. He is on a very controlled
diet.
UPDATED March 26, 2008
Here is the latest work on Gene Bremer.
Doctors are saying that Gene would have from 6-12 months
to live. The median survival for multiple myeloma is 3-5
years with treatment. Gene, Dianne and kids are evaluating how to
incorporate the "natural/holistic" approach with a medical balance.
You may want to follow Gene's progress and send him note of encouragement at March 20, 2008 From Steve Moody, pastor, Jackson/Memphis, TN;
Sedgwick/Little Rock, AR: PS: Gene Bremer is a personal friend of mine and this has been very sad and sobering. I do ask for your prayers for God's intervention. Victor Kubik
