UPDATED February 26, 2010

Lonna update: “I'm still sore but doing much better. The worst part now is not being able to get a good night’s sleep. But...I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!! "Freely you have received, freely give." Matthew 10:8!!!!”

Eric update: They spent over 10 hours at the hospital yesterday. His numbers are still high and he needed a biopsy on the new kidney and to drain fluid buildup. The good news...FSGS has not hit new kidney for sure. Hopefully, it’s just a matter of adjusting to medicines. All tests came back negative, except one which is not complete. The family is still anxious about this, hoping there is no rejection.

UPDATED February 15, 2010

Deb (Mom) sent this picture last evening after a shower and shave.  The picture says it well.

Lonna was reported to not be feeling well yesterday.  Continued prayers are appreciated during this critical time.

January 25, 2010

John and Debbie (Dellinger) Boerner are asking for prayers for their son, Eric, who is being scheduled for a kidney transplant in February.  They also request prayers for their donor.

No one in the family is a match for donation.  The volunteer donor, Lonna Erwin, is the youngest daughter of Donnie & Linda Nicholson, of Muncie.

Eric, age 17, went into sudden renal failure in October 2008, and spent the next 15 days at Riley Hospital before they found the problem.  He has a rare disease that attacks only the kidneys and is very unpredictable; it could also attack the new one.  He has been on dialysis at home during this long wait and has undergone much testing.  He gets very tired and only attends school for half days.

“What is Nephrotic Syndrome?

Nephrotic Syndrome (NS) occurs when there is a malfunction in the kidney’s filtering system (glomeruli) causing valuable protein in the blood to leak into the urine (proteinuria). This leakage causes fluid to accumulate in the body and prolonged leakage has been shown to cause kidney failure.”

Please remember both these young people as they prepare for this transplant.

Surgery is now scheduled for February 10th.
