Earthquake in Italy April 6, 2009
Report by UCG pastor

April 6, 2009

From Carmelo Anastasi, from Bergamo, Italy!

Greetings everyone!

I would like to inform you all in regard to the recent earthquake that has hit an area up in the mountains, 60 miles north of Rome.

Also, "thank you" to all those fellow ministers who have written to me in their concern for the safety of the Italian brethren.

All the brethren are safe, as they live far away from the hit area.

The earthquake has hit the province of Aquila, which is up in the mountains.  This earthquake left more than 100 people dead and around 1,500 injured. The Italian Civil Protection Agency said the magnitude 6.3 earthquake's death toll stood at more than 100.

A temporary tent city is now being set up to accommodate survivors whose homes were ruined in the disaster. The government has immediately secured funds so that the people of that province can rebuilt their houses as soon as possible. We hope the reconstruction is initiated soon, even if this means that the tax burden will become heavier for our nation. But that is necessary.

Please join in our prayers for the survivors so that they can restart living with renewed hope.

Thank your for your concern and prayers. What a blessing we have for the understanding of God's Plan when such tragedies occur. We know that no one is lost forever.

Warm regards to all of you.

Carmelo Anastasi
